Frank D. Perez is the Managing Director and Founder of Miletus Ventures, a venture studio focused on operationalizing artificial intelligence startups. Currently, its portfolio includes startups in biotechnology, finance, energy, sports technology, and the legal industry.
In 2009, Mr. Perez co-founded Sfile, a technology company that developed a cloud compute platform for rapidly unlocking data and insights from unstructured dark data present within “big-data” stores by using machine learning modeling and artificial intelligent agentic systems. The company’s technology is used in several complex projects in the legal and “oil & gas” industries meeting the challenges of complex legal discovery, regulatory response and compliance, and economic and reservoir modeling for oil & gas exploration and production.
In 2014, Mr. Perez focused his attention to solving the economic challenges of unconventional oil and gas exploration. He led a team of diverse researchers to develop machine learning models and artificial
intelligence that is capable of rapidly generating new reservoir modeling techniques from mining unstructured data found in historical exploration and production records. These efforts have significantly reduced capital risk while increasing new well production for leading unconventional oil and gas operators. Recognizing the success of Sfile, the State of Texas, Permanent University Fund, the managers of over 2.1 million acres in the Permian Basin, has engaged the company in a long-term research effort to use its technology to optimize its resources of minerals for the purpose of maximizing revenue that funds the University of Texas and Texas A&M University Systems.
Mr. Perez is a thought leader and serves on the board of several non-profit and for-profit initiatives and companies. His strong research and development experience, bringing several innovative products to
market, has been an asset to the boards and advisory councils he sits on.
